President’s Global Innovation Fund

Launched in March 2013 by President Lee C. Bollinger, this fund is designed to provide support for faculty who would like to use the resources or facilities of one or more of the University’s eight Global Centers for teaching or research activities. The Columbia Global Centers are a global network of regional hubs intended to enhance the quality of research and learning at the University.

Travel Research Engagement Grants

The competition is open to academic political scientists at career stages from PhD students to senior faculty from any institution, and is not restricted to U.S. citizens or residents. Awards of up to $3,000 will be offered to support research travel to the broader Middle East. The research should be in support of an ongoing academic research project.

Northeast Asia Council Japan Study Grants

Grants for travel within the US for research on Japan, short term research travel to Japan, and seminars and conferences related to Japanese studies.

China and Inner Asia Council Small Grants

Dissertation-level graduate students and scholars with special interests in China, Taiwan, or Inner Asia are invited to submit proposals. Applicants must be current AAS members, but there are no citizenship requirements.
