Joining Columbia

  1. Apply: Apply for job postings via JAC for administrative positions, or RAPS for academic and researcher positions.
  2. Interview: depending on the role, you may go through multiple rounds of interviews.
  3. Offer letter: if you are selected and cleared, you will receive an offer letter detailing the conditions of your employment.
  4. Background Check: all administrative finalists must undergo a background check. This may take several business days. You may not start working until your background check has been cleared. Background checks are not required for research positions.
  5. Visa application: Every Columbia employee must have a valid work authorization, which a job offer is contingent on. If you need a visa, ISERP will coordinate this process with your faculty sponsor and Columbia’s ISSO.
