Research

MadajewiczMalgosia Madajewicz is an assistant professor with a joint appointment at SIPA and the Department of Economics. Her research and teaching interests include contact theory, institutional economics, and development economics, with a focus on the role of institutions in economic growth and distribution of income. She is the author of "Is the Popularity of Group Loan Deserved? The Impact of Microcredit on Poverty" in Credit Markets for the Poor, forthcoming.

Professor Madajewicz has worked for the New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, InterAction, Save the Children, and Comilla Proshika in Bangladesh.

She earned her BA from Harvard University in 1986. In 1989 she received an MPhil from Cambridge University, and then she returned to Harvard to receive a PhD in 1998. She has taught at the Stockholm School of Economics and the Stockholm Institute for Transitional Economies as an assistant professor of economics from 1998 to 1999.
