Moral Geographies, Migration and Ethnic Conflict in Kenya
by Kimuli Kasara (ISERP)
Ethnic identities in sub-Saharan Africa frequently have a spatial aspect and claims that group membership confers stronger rights to reside in some areas than in others are common. This project examines how moral geographies, beliefs about the scope of ethnic territories and about identity-based rights in those territories, affect political behavior by examining patterns of conflict and migration in Kenya from 1991 to 2008.
