ISERP is launching a new podcast series titled “Espresso with the Experts,” founded and run by PhD candidates Beatrice Bonini and Leila Travaglini. This podcast series invites you to learn from Columbia’s experts, both inside and outside academia, about the main social, economic and political challenges we face.
Join us on our coffee break to discover more about the social science research and professional work on climate change, social media, governmental policies and much more.
Our first podcast episode, “Big Historical Data: A Conversation with Professor Matthew Connelly," was just released. In this episode, Bea and Leila discuss the research which went into Professor Connelly’s new book, The Declassification Engine. Meet the moderators:
Beatrice Bonini is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Political Science at Columbia university. Her research lies at the intersection of political economy and political communication: she studies public opinion, social media, and preference formation, with a focus on younger generations' political identities and attitudes. Prior to joining Columbia, Beatrice earned a BS and a MSc in Economics and gained professional experience in both the consulting and research sectors.
Giulia Leila Travaglini, also known as Leila, is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Political Science at Columbia University. She does quantitative research in Political Economy, with a focus on Energy transition and special interest groups. Leila was born and raised in Italy where she graduated in Economics from Bocconi University and she developed a strong interest for policymaking and collaborated with Italian policy makers and European institutions.
