Freedom of Information Archive
Columbia University Libraries joined Matthew J. Connelly Professor of History and Director of the Institute of Social and Economic Research at Columbia, in support of the Freedom of Information Archive, the world’s largest database of declassified documents. In an era of unprecedented government and official secrecy, the Freedom of Information Archive provides public access to a wellspring of knowledge, enabling the dissemination of information worldwide. The archive is one of an increasing number of examples of the vital role that libraries play in sharing information in the present digital age.
