SCOTUS Brief Shows Religious Discrimination in the Plain Text of the Muslim Ban
IRWGS Core Faculty member Lila Abu-Lughod was cited in an amicus brief challenging President Donald Trump’s “Muslim and refugee ban”. Muslim Advocates, along with Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer LLP and law professor Aziz Huq of the U. of Chicago Law School relied extensively on Abu-Lughod’s scholarship in the case, documenting the ways in which references to the term “honor killings” in the ban can only be properly understood as reflections of anti-Muslim animus.
