Social Drivers of Mental Illnesses in Low- & Middle-Income Countries: Mechanisms and Pathways of Interventions for Youth

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to solicit research that will help to identify and explain the mechanisms and pathways by which interventions targeting social drivers of mental illnesses affect the mental health and functioning of children and/or adolescents (ages 5-24 years) living in World Bank designated low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) and previously designated LMICs re-categorized as high income on or after January 1, 2021.

Racial Equity Special Research Grants in Education

In honor of the Spencer Foundation's 50th Anniversary, the Foundation has launched The Racial Equity Special Research Grants program to support education research projects that will contribute to understanding and ameliorating racial inequality in education. We are interested in funding studies that aim to understand and disrupt the reproduction and deepening of educational inequality in education, and which seek to remake and imagine anew forms of equitable education.

Pipeline Grants Competition

The Russell Sage Foundation, in partnership with the Economic Mobility and Opportunity program at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, seeks to advance innovative research on economic mobility and access to opportunity in the United States. We are interested in research focused on structural barriers to economic mobility and how individuals, communities, and governments have come to understand, navigate, and challenge the existence of systemic inequalities.

Addressing Racism: A Call to Action for Columbia Faculty Seed Grant Opportunity

The Office of the Provost is issuing a request for proposals to provide seed grant funding for faculty and/or academic units within the Columbia community that engage with issues of structural racism. The goal of this initiative is to provide resources to enable collaborative dialogue, action, and insight for systemic change towards racial equity. We anticipate that awards will be funded up to $5,000. Projects that are complex, such as interdisciplinary collaborations, can be funded up to $10,000.

Just Tech COVID-19 Rapid-Response Grants

The Social Science Research Council (SSRC), as part of its Just Tech program, seeks proposals from across the social sciences and related fields that address the risks, opportunities, and challenges posed by public health surveillance stemming from the Covid-19 pandemic. We specifically encourage proposals that interrogate the role the public and private sectors may play in mitigating or exacerbating the health crisis, the effects of which are already unevenly distributed.

IRCPL Dissertation Fellowship

The IRCPL Dissertation Fellowship provides students with $5,000 towards the completion of the dissertation over the course of an academic semester (typically the fall semester). Fellowship recipients must be in registered full-time at Columbia University for the duration of the award period and are expected to contribute to the intellectual life of the Institute.

Addressing Racial Disparities in Maternal Mortality and Morbidity

This initiative will support multidisciplinary research examining mechanisms underlying racial and ethnic disparities in maternal mortality and morbidity, testing the efficacy and/or effectiveness of multi-level interventions, and/or research strategies to optimally and sustainably deliver proven-effective prevention and treatment interventions to reduce these disparities.
