Mexico's Judicial Reform" will feature a presentation and discussion led by Dr. José Ramón Cossío, a retired Justice of Mexico’s Supreme Court and current professor at El Colegio Nacional de México. The event will explore the recent judicial reforms in Mexico, which include significant changes such as the election of judges by popular vote, the restructuring of the Supreme Court, and the introduction of new disciplinary measures. Dr. Cossío will share his expert insights into the potential impacts of these reforms on the judiciary, rule of law, and democratic governance in Mexico.
The event is organized by the Institute of Latin American Studies (ILAS) and the Social Study of Disappearance Lab (SSDL) at Columbia University, with support from ISERP. It will take place on Thursday, October 17th, from 4:10 PM to 5:40 PM at Room 802 in the International Affairs Building, 420 W 118th St.
