Professors Ira Katznelson, Suresh Naidu and Katharina Pistor invite you to join the Columbia Center for Political Economy on February 13th for a panel event centered around the question, What if the economy worked for democracy?

We launched the Columbia Center for Political Economy in late 2022 to identify and advance the most promising post-2008 developments within economics concerned with questions of inequality, power, and uncertainty. To celebrate our first full year of exploration, we are pleased to invite you to attend What if the Economy Worked for Democracy?

Bringing together Columbia President Minouche Shafik, Center co-director Ira Katznelson, legal scholar Amy Kapczynski (Yale), classicist and political scientist Josiah Ober (Stanford), and economist and political scientist James Robinson (University of Chicago), the event will explore the structural forces undermining shared prosperity, tradeoffs inherent in economic policymaking, pathways to a more just and inclusive economy and the significance of a political economy that strengthens and sustains democracy.

Sincerely,

Ira Katznelson, Suresh Naidu, and Katharina Pistor

Co-Directors, Center for Political Economy
