ISERP is thrilled to announce two new funding opportunities starting in Spring 2026.

Social Science of Pandemics (SSP)

SSP grant applications should center on ambitious, feasible, and scalable approaches to the understanding of pandemics.

At-A-Glance

Duration: Three (3) Years

Award Amount: Up to $100,000 

Award Period: July 1, 2026–June 30, 2029

Eligibility

  • Faculty, research scholars, and research scientists appointed in one of the six social science departments in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Columbia University or SIPA
  • Interdisciplinary teams are encouraged
  • At least one applicant per team must be a full-time faculty member
  • All team members must play an active role in the proposed project

 

Graduate Student Research Grants

Graduate student research grants are meant to support PhD dissertation research. We aim to support specific research costs, rather than to supplement applicants’ fellowship funding.

Duration: One (1) Year

Award Amount: Up to $5,000 

Award Period: July 1, 2026–June 30, 2027

Eligibility

  • Any PhD student in the departments of Anthropology, Economics, History, Political Science, or Sociology in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, or in the Sustainable Development program at SIPA
